Blacklisted contacts

Blacklisted contacts are contacts that are permanently or temporarily excluded from mailing. The reason why they are on this list is that the last attempt to deliver an e-mail to this address was unsuccessful. Some contacts are automatically returned to the mailing, some, which were not delivered because the e-mail no longer exists for example, stay on this list permanently.

Why did some of your contacts end up on the blacklist? You can find that out easily.

Just filter the contact list with the drop-down above the contacts to Blacklisted contacts and then export them. A document in CSV format is downloaded, and how to open it in Excel is described in the help article: How to open a file with a CSV extension in Excel

We recommend looking at this list and, where possible, correcting the faulty e-mails, replacing non-existent e-mails with new ones and so on. Permanently blacklisted contacts can be removed.

In the table, in the columns named Hard Bounce reason and Soft Bounce reason, you will then see the reasons why the contact ended up on the list.

Hard Bounce means a permanent rejection due to undeliverability, a full recipient mailbox or a non-existent e-mail (which is indicated by 'status': u'5.1.1'). You can therefore check and correct the e-mail addresses.

Soft Bounce means a temporary rejection due to an outage. These contacts are then put back among the recipients after certain intervals and the campaign is tried again.

If there is nothing in either column for a contact, it means the e-mail was marked as spam, either by the recipient's e-mail client or by the recipient themselves.

You can also check the DNS records and link branding. These significantly increase the credibility of the e-mails you send, improve their deliverability into primary folders and reduce the chance of your e-mails being delivered into junk mail or bulk folders.
