How to set up DNS records for sending

What needs to be done?

You need to add 3 CNAME records, or 6 CNAME records if you are setting up link branding on top of sender verification. These CNAME records have to be added to the DNS records of the domain you send e-mails from. If you use several e-mail addresses with different domains for sending from Quanda, you have to do this setup for each domain separately. For example, our sending domain is "quanda.com", because the sending e-mail is jan.novak@quanda.com. That is why we extended the DNS records of this domain (quanda.com) by 6 CNAME records.

So how do I set the records up?

  1. Sign in to Quanda.
  2. Go to the page "... / Settings / Domain & DNS verification".
  3. In a new tab, sign in to the service that manages the DNS records of your sending domain. Your domain can be registered with providers such as Active24, Forpsi, Domény.cz and similar. Sign in to that service and add the 3, or 6, CNAME records you find in Quanda on the page "... / Settings / Domain & DNS verification".
    • Some services managing your DNS records automatically append ".yourdomain.com" (including the dot) to the end of the name. If that is the case, fill in only the first part as the name, that is without ".yourdomain.com", so the domain is not duplicated when the record is saved.
    • With the "Alias" value it can be the other way round, a dot behind the inserted value may be required. Again, this differs between services and some of them add the dot automatically.
    • What always applies is that the resulting name and value (alias) after saving must be exactly as stated in Quanda. If they are not, the record cannot be verified.
  4. Once you have these records set up, click the "Check DNS record settings" button on the page "... / Settings / Domain & DNS verification". It can take several hours before the DNS records can be verified.
  5. If everything is fine, green ticks appear next to your domain.
  6. Repeat this procedure for all of your sending domains.
  7. If you cannot set the records up or verify the settings, or you are not sure what to do at all, call our support line at +420 605 163 892 or write to us at support@onquanda.com.

Is it possible to send e-mails from Quanda without setting up the CNAME records?

Sending e-mails without the CNAME records set up is possible, but we do not recommend it. Without this setup, e-mails are far more likely to "fall" into promotions and bulk mail folders, which shows significantly in the results of your e-mail campaigns.

Why is it important to set up the DNS records? What is a DKIM and SPF record, sender verification or link branding?
