Automation in a simple campaign

Automation in a simple e-mail campaign was designed to help you track what a recipient does after receiving an e-mail and react to it by sending another e-mail or assigning a tag.

Quanda can track several events:

  • Opening the e-mail
  • Not opening the e-mail
  • Clicking a particular link in the e-mail
  • Not clicking a particular link in the e-mail
  • Non-delivery of the e-mail. This event can only be reacted to by assigning a tag

Let us look at a few scenarios of how to use automation.

  • Send the e-mail again if the recipient does not open it. If a recipient does not open your e-mail, you can send it to them again after a few days and increase your chance that as many recipients as possible actually open and read the e-mail. In the automation set > if the e-mail recipient > did not open the e-mail, then in the "then after" part set > 3 days, and in the > Perform this action > part set > Send e-mail and pick the transactional e-mail that should be sent.

  • Send a special offer if the recipient clicked a particular link. If a recipient of your e-mail clicks a particular link, for example one offering a specific product or service, you can send them an e-mail within 30 minutes with a discounted offer for that product, with an extension of it, or a reward for a quick order. In the automation set > if the e-mail recipient > clicked a particular link, then pick the link you want to track from the list of links, then in the "then after" part set: 30 minutes, and in the > Perform this action > part set > Send e-mail and pick the transactional e-mail that should be sent.

  • Send an e-mail invitation again to everyone who did not click a particular link in the previous e-mail. If a recipient of your e-mail does not click the registration button for an event you organise, you can send all of these recipients an e-mail a few days later with a last chance to sign up for the event. In the automation set > if the e-mail recipient > did not click a particular link, then pick the link you want to track from the list of links, then in the "then after" part set > 4 days, and in the > Perform this action > part set Send e-mail and pick the transactional e-mail that should be sent.

How does Quanda evaluate the timing of individual events?

In the case of clicks or non-clicks, Quanda reacts exactly at the time you set. So if you set that another e-mail should be sent 2 hours after a click on a particular link in the e-mail, every recipient receives this next e-mail exactly 2 hours after clicking that link. So if someone clicks at 8 in the morning, they receive the next e-mail at 10. If another recipient clicks at 2 in the afternoon, they receive the next e-mail at 4 in the afternoon.

The event tracking a non-click on a particular link or an e-mail open is evaluated the same way, because we know the exact time the recipient performed the action. The next e-mail is sent individually according to the time set in the automation.

In the case of the "E-mail not opened" event, Quanda works with time differently. Because all e-mails that are not opened have no such event with an exact time stored anywhere, if you set that another e-mail should be sent to all recipients after 3 days when the first one is not opened, this e-mail is sent exactly 3 days after the first e-mail was sent.

You can also set several conditions for individual events at once. The number of automation conditions is not limited, so for the event "Clicked a particular link" you can create as many conditions as you need. All conditions are then evaluated one after another according to the time you set.
