What to do when a YouTube video preview does not show correctly

We use the preview images that the YouTube service provides. If the video is in a lower resolution than HD (1920 x 1080 px), the high resolution image we use is not available.

In that case the image does not load, because YouTube does not provide it.

There are three ways to go about it:

1. Take a screenshot from the YouTube video manually, insert it into Quanda as an image and link it using the share link from YouTube.

2. Use a different preview image from YouTube by changing the name of the loaded file

You do that by changing the name of the loaded file, that is the last part after the slash, in the field named "Insert image address from the web" (in the right-hand menu in the E-mail editor, when you click the video field).

Example of an address for loading a preview image from YouTube: https://img.youtube.com/vi/abcd66efgh/maxresdefault.jpg

"maxresdefault.jpg" can be replaced by one of the image file names below, for example by "0.jpg". The address in the field then looks like this: https://img.youtube.com/vi/abcd66efgh/0.jpg

All the available preview image variants are these: 0.jpg 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg default.jpg hqdefault.jpg mqdefault.jpg sddefault.jpg maxresdefault.jpg

Unfortunately, not all of these images provided by YouTube are in a nice resolution and usable.

3. Upload the video to YouTube in HD resolution

In that case the high resolution image, the "maxresdefault.jpg" version, is available and appears in the video preview in Quanda.
