Once you have a file in the "xlsx" or "csv" format ready, you can move on to importing contacts into Quanda.

You will find the bulk contact import in the upper menu under: "Contacts / Bulk contact import".

If you are importing your contacts for the first time and want Quanda to create salutations automatically, first pay attention to the salutation settings and then to contact automation.

On the bulk import page, pick the saved file with the "xlsx" or "csv" extension holding the contacts you want to import, and choose the priority for importing contacts and companies.

The contact import priority is used at the moment when you import a contact with an e-mail address that is already stored in Quanda, and this import setting says how it should behave. Quanda does not allow more than one identical e-mail address to be stored, so it is essential to set this priority correctly for the import to go the way you need.

If you choose that "existing contacts" have priority during the import, you are setting that when Quanda comes across a contact with an e-mail address already stored in Quanda, it simply skips that contact. It will not edit or update it in any way.

If you choose that "imported contacts" have priority during the import, you are setting that when Quanda comes across a contact with an e-mail address already stored in Quanda, all the data you set on the next page is updated. Some information, tags and similar can therefore be added, corrected or removed on the contact.

In both cases it applies that if the given e-mail address is not yet stored in Quanda, it is created together with all the data you set.

The priority setting for importing companies works exactly the same way.

Once you have the file with the "xlsx" or "csv" extension uploaded and the import priorities set, continue by clicking the "Start contact import" button. On the next page, map the values from the file to the individual fields. If you open the drop-down of an individual field, you will find the names of the columns from the file you are importing the data from. For the right data to be imported into the right fields, this data has to be mapped to the fields. In the fields you want to import, pick the item from the drop-down that logically belongs to the chosen field. Put the first name into first name, the surname into surname, gender into gender and so on. Do not forget to put tags into the tags field. When you have all the fields you want to import paired up, scroll to the very bottom of this page and click the "Finish contact import" button.

You can follow the progress of the import with the progress bar that appears on the page. Once the contact import is finished, a message with the results appears on this page.

The contact import runs in the background, so when importing a larger number of contacts you do not have to wait for them to be imported. The whole import runs automatically and a message with the import results arrives in your e-mail once it is done. You can then come back to this message at any time later by clicking through from the report you received by e-mail, or you will find this message at the very bottom of the "Bulk contact import" page.
